The Culture & Traditions

  • Maharashtra, spread over nearly 120,000 square miles, provides a wide array of weather, topography, soil, flora, and fauna and has developed a unique culture that is amalgam of the experiences and thoughts of over 115 million people living there for centuries of recorded history
  • Many modern values we hold dear to our heart have been taught by these saints many centuries ago and dominate the thought of the Maharashtrian (indeed all Indians) people even today. Such as:
  • Saint Dnyaneshwar – He asked for a blessing from his Guru thus:
  • Let everyone get what they each wish
  • Destroy the bad thoughts and deeds of the bad people, and make them good people
  • Saint Tukaram – He wrote “Vrukshavalli amha soyari” meaning
  • The trees, the plants, the birds, the animals are all our beloved friends
  • When you live with them, no faults or vicious thoughts come to you
  • And many more, reflecting the core values of the Sanatana Dharmic tradition of India
  • These teachings offer a solution to many of today’s problems, such as depression, addiction, identity crisis, hate, and lack of a sense of belonging in the community. We want to engage people in positive and fulfilling ways, helping them lead a healthy and blissful lives.
