Welcome to Vitthal Rukmini Mandir, New Jersey USA
To empower all people live a compassionate, healthy, and fulfilling life through material and spiritual well-being.
Bring the Sanatan religious, spiritual, cultural, and educational heritage of the Indian state of Maharashtra to the United States.
In our ancient tradition, a temple serves as an integrated space that meets the social, religious, educational, and material needs of society in a holistic manner. This temple will bring this revered tradition to help and support our members in the United States.
The project consists of acquiring a land parcel of approximately 10 acres in the Central Jersey area to provide the following services to the members
A Temple designed and built as per our Shastras with Vitthal – Rakhumai as the main deity.
The Murti of both Vitthal and Rakhumai will be similar in shape and size to the actual Pandharpur Murti.
Our Sant Parampara – from Dnyaneshwar to Tukaram and the modern day Satpurushas such as Akkalkot, Shegaon, Gondvalekar and others have shown us the path to a perfect balance of sansar and parmarth. The temple will be the platform from which our revered pandits and panditas will unlock this treasure for all of us here, specially to our young generation for them to their rich heritage and identity. “ज्ञानदेवे रचिला पाया, तुका झालासे कळस”.
There is no Marathi man or woman anywhere that does not remember the taste of Sabudana wada, Shrikhand, Puran poli and many other Marathi delicacies. The temple cafeteria will work with renowned chefs and our own culinary experts to provide wholesome delicacies for the entire family.
As we all appreciate the opportunities we received in the United States, we all want to give back to this country and we can contribute well to one particular initiative of the US Government – STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) education. The temple will build a team of volunteers to teach STEM to young kids – specially from the disadvantaged sections of the society
To help the community connect with relevant people, procure goods, services, technology, and finance across continents.

The 2023 Action Plan
- While the land acquisition, obtaining various permissions and constructing the structures will be a multi-year project, a small Vitthal Rakhumai Temple has been established at Lyndhurst (Bergen County), NJ.
- The Vigrahas of Vitthal and Rakhumai have been sculpted in Shaligram obtained from Nepal by a renowned sculptor from Pandharpur and have all the signs and symbols of the original Vitthal Murti. The consecrated Murtis sit atop a sanctified Shree Yantra.
- The temple to open for Devotees from June 29, 2023- the auspicious day of Aashaadhi Ekadashi. Start conducting regular and special poojas and Aarati at the temple.
- Establish social media presence for the temple.
- Complete the selection of land parcel and based on the size and shape of the same, draw preliminary architectural plans as per our Vaastu Shastra.
Note: The temple is currently in a residential zone, a part of a house, with limited parking. This puts constraints on the number of visitors and visiting hours. We are working on a calendaring system to allow devotees schedule their visit. Until we have the system in place, we request you to kindly contact us by phone or email to confirm your visit. We regret the inconvenience.
